استراتيجية الخيارات الثنائية المملكة المتحدة Description

Toffee is a small female GSD cross, approximately 12-18 months. She is currently living in one of our wonderful, calm foster homes. Toffee had no direction when she first came into our care but with the repeat of a daily routine, the penny is dropping and now Toffee has a great future ahead of her.

Toffee is a very scared girl, she's very wary of humans and she is learning day by day how to be a pet dog. Toffee's foster carer ignored her for the first few days to allow Toffee to observe the routine and feel secure without feeling pressured to join in any activities. This worked really well and Toffee started to display a curious side and soon wanted to be more involved. She is very food orientated so with gentle handling and plenty of tasty treats, she can be won around. Toffee is definitely more scared of men than women but she is not aggressive, she just wants to retreat. Again, by tossing a few treats in her direction and some patient encouragement, she'll start to take treats out of visitor's hands after a few minutes.

Toffee is sharing her foster home with two resident dogs. She's at ease in the company of the other dogs and they are helping to show her how to relax. She has a great relationship with one of the dogs and they love having a wrestle together.

We don't thing Toffee has ever lived in a house because it was all very new to her. Now she is fully house trained and will let you know when she wants to go out to the toilet, she is super calm and chilled in the house and loves the comfort of her soft bed.

Toffee can be left home alone for a few hours and she shows no sign of destruction or barking. She likes to sit on the window sill and keep watch for you coming home. She can push open doors and can jump over a baby gate too, so when she's unsupervised or home alone, all doors will need to be closed securely. And extra care will be needed when opening external doors because she is very likely to try to escape.

Out on walks, Toffee can be strong on the lead. She doesn't really know yet how to walk on a lead and prefers to do a happy dance in front of you - she clearly loves being out on walks! We're hoping that she'll start following the lead of the other two dogs and start walking in a straighter line! She's a lot better on the long line but of course she gets excited and wants to play with the other dogs who are off-lead.

Toffee is being fed separately away from the other dogs because she does have resource guarding issues. All chews and bones are given separately. Her foster carer has started to work on Toffee's food boundaries and encouraging her to relax at fed times.

Toffee loves toys, she adores playing! She'll play nicely on her own and will play with a chilled dog but she starts to guard the toys, then they are removed until a later time. Toffee's basic training is coming on nicely - she already knows 'sit' and 'down' and she understands 'off' and 'no' but the best part is that she understands 'Good Girl' !!

It would be lovely to see Toffee share her home with an easy going dog who could continue to show her the ropes. Toffee will need an experienced owner who is willing to take things slowly and continue Toffee's training. Toffee cannot share her home with small furries or cats.

To adopt Toffee, please complete our online adoption application form and we will be in touch.
