Izzy

Izzy is currently being fostered by one of our amazing volunteers. This is what they have to say about this beautiful girl…

Izzy is very sweet, she is taken out twice per day and walks really well on the lead. When Izzy went into foster she was overweight, so she is on a strict diet and has limited treats which consist of small pieces of chicken due to her being food orientated. She doesn’t react well when passing other dogs on walks. Izzy’s fosterer is working on distracting her and giving constant reassurance when out on walks and other dogs are nearby, this is working progress. While out walking, if you are near the sea Izzy loves to go paddling and insists that you go with her but watch when she comes out and shakes, you’ll need to stand back!! Izzy doesn’t mind wearing a muzzle if she has to. She is well behaved in the car and and enjoys time on a secure field but does tire easily, Izzy doesn’t have a good recall, this could be her age but her fosterer knows it’s just selective hearing!! You will see a video below with Izzy in a secure field displaying no recall.

Izzy is a very clean girl and is house-trained, she won’t even do her toilet in the garden/yard, she prefers to go to a public grassed area instead, which is between her two walks per day. When relaxing around the house Izzy prefers to lay on cold hard floors as she finds carpets or rugs too hot, she has a thick coat, and loves to be brushed 3 to 4 times per week! When Izzy sleeps she will snore quite loud.

Izzy is playful and loves to hide her belongings under her blanket (see video below). For a senior dog she is still intelligent and needs a lot of stimulation, she loves to play hide the treat,  and one of her daily jobs is squashing plastic bottles (minus the lid) for recycling.

Although Izzy currently lives with a cat and 5 chickens, she doesn’t get on with the cat. They are never in the same room together and live separate lives and only ever see each other behind a safety gate. Izzy will start barking and growling when she sees the cat, so when Izzy finds her forever home she can’t be rehomed with cats.

Izzy can be left on her own for a few hours, and on your return be prepared to be showered with lots of kisses and wagging her tail, she loves to be cuddled in return because she is so happy to see you!

She loves meeting strangers on her walks and she knows some basic training – she sits for a treat and gives a paw, often two paws!

Izzy is a lovely well behaved dog who will steal the heart of her new family. She is a joy to be around and is a very clever dog.
