Winston

Winston is a 7 year old large staffy who is looking for a new home with experienced staffy owners.

Winston has been lucky enough to bag himself a foster home and this is what his fosterer has to say about Winston:

“He has settled in ever so well with his foster family. Winston is house trained and has not had one accident since being with us. We just ask if he wants to go out and off he trots. Winston sleeps through the night and so well on his own downstairs (we decided we would try something different with this foster baby) when he first arrived he whimpered for no more than 5 minutes and went off to sleep. Now he fully knows his routine.

Winston is brilliant around our 8 year old son and cuddles up with him on the sofa. He really is such a gentle soul and will make a lovely addition to any family. He really does have lots of licks for his Foster Daddy. Winston know basic commands such as sit and takes treats from you very gently.

Winston would benefit from being an only dog and would be better around no furry animals and cats. Winston can be the typical stubborn staffie but overall he will always do as his told. Winston really is a lovely lad and so deserves to find his forever home.”

Winston is strong on the lead, although this is being worked on and will therefore need a physically capable owner to manage him.

Whilst Winston’s fosterers have reported no issues with Winston and other dogs when out on walks, their experience being that he does not appear to be fazed by other dogs and is happy not to engage with other dogs, to listen to his handler’s directions and to walk on by, applicants should note the following incident with another dog has occurred.

Whilst Winston was on home trial and during the course of a close encounter with another dog on a walk, Winston reacted adversely to the other dog warning him off by latching on to the other dog’s ear. Whilst no injury was reported to have been sustained by the other dog, any new owner should be aware of the potential for Winston to react strongly to any perceived hostile or annoying behaviour on the part of other dogs. Winston’s new owners are therefore advised to walk Winston at a safe distance from other dogs and to ensure that any unavoidable close dog encounters are kept short and carefully monitored. Winston is happy to walk on by other dogs, if instructed by his handler to do so.
