Xena

Xena has been at Homeless Hounds for 8 months and we are still assessing her and learning new things about Xena

We know that Xena will require a home where her potential adopters can give her all the time and dedication that she needs. Xena is a very intelligent girl and learns quick, so she will need someone who can keep up with her and give her the mental stimulation that she needs.

As can be typical of her breed, Xena in certain enclosed environments can display guarding tendencies. This will come as no surprise to experienced Mali owners but we can give further details and suggestions as to how to deal with this.

One of our amazing volunteers has been taking Xena out of the kennels on a regular basis, and getting her used to home life. See photos and videos below.

She has made amazing progress from when she first came to Homeless Hounds, and still has lots more potential. She is a beautiful and affectionate dog who will give you hours of entertainment.

Xena still isn’t cat friendly, our volunteer has been working tirelessly to try and convert her but it is proving to be more challenging than expected. But she is showing small signs of improvement. But for now we will be looking to rehome Xena in a cat free home.

Xena loves travelling in the car, but please make sure you use a harness where she can be secured in the back seat, otherwise she could end up on your knee. She loves her walks and is strong on the lead, but with the correct lead handling techniques Xena will walk nicely next to you.
